OUR HISTORY
Kustom Kreations opened in the summer of 1980. Owner Jim Farcello started as a custom body worker and painter, going on to become a founding member of the area’s famed Hot August Nights, based in Reno, NV. Farcello has worked on pieces for celebrities such as John Wayne and Max Baer as well as local celebrities like John Ascuaga and the late Nevada Governor, Kenny Guinn. Today, Kustom Kreations has evolved from a custom body shop to a full-service collision repair center.
1960's
Photo made in the early 1950’s. Owner of Kustom Kreations, Jim Farcello, was born & raised in Los Angeles – Reseda, CA. He worked here at Reseda Auto Body in his teens.
1983
The original shop on Corbett Street went up and flames and Jim’s custom 55′ Nomad was lost in the incident.
1989
We built a new shop with state-of-the-art equipment in Carson City on South Curry Street to serve more customers.
1990
This is where it all begins! Jim purchases this custom Buiadillac from Rod Powell, a famous custom car painter in California. He chops, drops, grinds, lowers, paints the vehicle and lands it in a few shows and Custom Rodder magazines.
1992
Jim’s Buiadillac creation is the poster child of the Hot August Nights 1992 event in Downtown Reno, NV.
1993
Jim’s lands another poster feature for Hot August Nights 1993 event in Downtown Reno, NV.
2019
Transfer of ownership: Matthew McAlister, former Shop Manager of 10+ years, becomes new owner. Jim Farcello is now full time Maintenance crew. Customers can expect the same friendly faces and service they can count on.
